Bells Up! Music Studio offers individual and group instruction in the following areas:
  • Trumpet, all levels from beginner to advanced, young and old
  • Music Theory, including basic musicianship, aural skills, harmony, analysis, part-writing, basic composition
  • Other Brass instruments at the beginner level

Philosophy
Linda's passion lies in collaborating with students of all ages to help them achieve their musical goals. She provides an individualized approach to teaching, meeting each student at their developmental and skill level. Linda's primary goal is to guide each individual by means of materials that are appropriate to the student's age, level, and interests in order to further their music education. Her intent is that the skills and knowledge gained will increase her students' enjoyment of and interest in music and their instrument.

All trumpet and brass instrument lessons will incorporate basic musicianship and music theory skills along with instrumental techniques. All students will have the opportunity to perform at Bells Up! Music Studio recitals held in the local community and students are encouraged to participate in regional solo and ensemble festivals.

Academics and Teaching
Linda Popovic began her career in music education in 1978 after graduating from the University of Arizona in Tucson with a Bachelor of Music degree specializing in Music Education. She started off in the Albuquerque Public School system as a Middle School Band director and has since had over 22 years experience working as an educator, teaching instrumental music in the elementary, middle and high school levels in both the public and private school sectors in New Mexico, New Jersey, Connecticut and California and in Johannesburg, South Africa. She later continued her education at the University of Arizona earning a Master of Music in Music Theory before moving on to complete her graduate work at Yale University with a Ph.D in Music Theory. She continued her teaching career at the college level teaching music theory at West Chester University and Vanderbilt University. Linda Popovic currently works at Maltby Intermediate School in Brighton, Michigan as an Instrumental Music Specialist with the 5th grade band.

Trumpet and Performance
Since Linda began playing trumpet in elementary school, she had a love for the instrument and performing in general. She was always an active member of her public school band program and continued at a high level of performance in college, playing in orchestra, symphonic and marching bands, jazz band, and chamber groups. During her college years and beyond she also gained experience as a professional trumpet player in the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra of the South Africa Broadcasting Corporation in addition to playing in brass ensembles and brass quintets.
